New Delhi, April 5: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to address a public rally in Cooch Behar, West Bengal, on Sunday at 4:15 PM. This event marks a significant step in the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) aggressive campaign ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.
Modi will speak at the historic Ras Mela ground, which has emerged as a stronghold for the BJP in recent years. This rally signals the start of an extensive outreach campaign in a crucial electoral battleground.
The elections for the 294-member West Bengal assembly will take place in two phases on April 23 and April 29, with the counting of votes scheduled for May 4.
This rally will be Modi’s first electoral gathering in the state since the announcement of election dates. It will also be the fourth time he addresses a rally at the Ras Mela ground, having previously campaigned there during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the 2021 West Bengal assembly elections, and the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Following this rally, BJP leaders will conduct a series of public meetings, roadshows, and organizational events across the state. The party is gearing up for the final phase of preparations to secure a decisive mandate.
Modi last visited the state on March 14, where he addressed a large rally at the Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata. This event marked the conclusion of the BJP’s statewide ‘Parivartan Yatra’ campaign ahead of the elections.
During that visit, he inaugurated and laid the foundation for infrastructure and connectivity projects worth approximately ₹18,680 crores, including nearly ₹16,990 crores for national highway development covering over 420 kilometers.
These initiatives aim to enhance road safety, reduce congestion, decrease travel time, and promote regional connectivity and economic growth in Eastern India.
As the election campaign enters a crucial phase, Sunday’s rally is expected to define the BJP’s strategy for North Bengal and beyond.
