New Delhi, February 26: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has achieved a remarkable milestone by surpassing 100 million followers on Instagram. This achievement makes him the first leader in the world to reach this number on the social media platform.
Since joining Instagram in 2014, Prime Minister Modi has transformed his account into one of the most active and followed digital platforms among global leaders over the past decade.
His presence on the platform has consistently grown, reflecting his strategy to connect with audiences both in India and abroad. Currently, PM Modi boasts the highest number of followers among prominent world leaders on Instagram. Notably, his follower count is more than double that of former U.S. President Donald Trump.
The total followers of the five leading world leaders combined is still less than PM Modi’s follower count. Donald Trump ranks second with 43.2 million followers, followed by Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto with 15 million, Brazil’s President Lula with 14.4 million, Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan with 11.6 million, and Argentina’s President Javier Milei with 6.4 million.
On the social media platform ‘X’, Prime Minister Modi has 106.2 million followers, while on Facebook, he has 54 million followers. These figures highlight PM Modi’s extensive global reach and strong connections.
In India, Prime Minister Modi is significantly ahead of other politicians on Instagram. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ranks second with approximately 16.1 million followers, followed by Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi with around 12.6 million followers.
As of December 2025, Prime Minister Modi also achieved the highest approval ratings among various world leaders. According to Statista, his approval rating stands at 70%, placing him at the top of the list alongside other global leaders.
Japan’s Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi follows with a 63% approval rating, Argentina’s Javier Milei with 60%, and U.S. President Donald Trump at 43%, ranking 11th.
Data collected by U.S. business intelligence firm Morning Consult between February 2 and February 8 indicates that Prime Minister Modi leads with a 67% approval rating, while Donald Trump holds an approval rating of 40%, ranking 11th.
