New Delhi, June 16: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Geneva from Slovakia to attend the G7 summit. Here, he was warmly welcomed by Swiss President Guy Parmelin. Following this, Prime Minister Modi will travel to Évian for the G7 summit.
The Ministry of External Affairs shared on the social media platform X, “PM Narendra Modi has reached Geneva en route to the G7 summit in Évian. Swiss President Guy Parmelin welcomed him. Both leaders exchanged warm greetings and reiterated their commitment to strengthening the India-Switzerland partnership.”
It is noteworthy that PM Modi is concluding his European tour with a visit to France. Prior to this, he completed a two-day visit to Slovakia. Reflecting on his time in Slovakia, PM Modi stated that the outcomes of this visit would significantly enhance bilateral relations.
On social media, PM Modi wrote, “The historic and positive visit to Slovakia is coming to an end. The results of this visit will greatly strengthen our mutual relations. Strong trade ties will benefit our youth immensely. I thank the government and people of Slovakia for their warm hospitality.”
Meanwhile, the Ministry of External Affairs noted, “After a successful visit to Slovakia, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has departed for Évian to participate in the G7 summit.”
During his visit, PM Modi reached the Slovak capital, marking a significant milestone in India-Slovakia relations, where both nations signed several agreements, including a crucial defense pact. Foreign Secretary (West) Sibi George stated that PM Modi was received with full state honors at the invitation of Slovak PM Robert Fico.
Sibi George further emphasized the importance of the visit, noting that President Peter Pellegrini honored the Indian leader with the Order of the White Double Cross First Class at the Presidential Palace. This is Slovakia’s highest civilian honor, awarded to very few foreign guests.
