Mumbai, September 9 (Daily Kiran) : Preity Zinta, the renowned actress, recently reminisced about her nearly three-decade-long journey in Bollywood, highlighting the significant changes in the industry since she began her career in the late 1990s. Speaking from Mumbai, Zinta reflected on how the filmmaking process and technology have evolved, yet the pressure on artists to deliver exceptional performances remains constant.
In an exclusive interview, Zinta expressed her gratitude for entering the film industry during a transformative period for Hindi cinema. She recalled her debut film, “Kya Kehna,” which marked a departure from conventional storytelling at the time. “I consider myself fortunate to have started my career in the late ’90s when change was already underway in Hindi cinema,” she said.
Zinta noted that shortly after her debut, “Dil Chahta Hai” was released, introducing a new filmmaking style that included live sound, eliminating the need for dubbing. “I was part of that change,” she remarked, emphasizing the technological advancements that have reshaped the industry. “Filmmaking has shifted from traditional film cameras to digital technology, offering new ways to refine films that didn’t exist in my early days.”
She also pointed out the shift in storytelling focus. Initially, many films centered around the love stories of Indians living abroad, but now there is a growing emphasis on narratives rooted in Indian culture, history, and pride. Themes such as national identity and the military have gained prominence, reflecting a broader societal shift.
Despite these changes, Zinta emphasized that the fundamental pressure to produce quality work has not wavered. “One thing that hasn’t changed is the pressure on artists to deliver good work,” she concluded, underscoring the enduring challenges faced by performers in the industry.
