Namish Taneja Reminisces About Navratri Celebrations and Childhood Memories

Actor Namish Taneja shares fond memories of Navratri, highlighting the joy of Kanya Poojan and festive traditions from his childhood.

Mumbai, October 14 (Daily Kiran) : Actor Namish Taneja recently reflected on his childhood memories associated with the Navratri festival. Growing up in Delhi, he eagerly participated in Kanya Poojan, a tradition during which he enjoyed delicious treats like puris, halwa, and chole. He also anticipated receiving money during the rituals, which added to the excitement of the occasion.

Now, due to his busy shooting schedule, Taneja can only observe fasting on the first and last days of Navratri instead of the full nine days.

Sharing his experiences, Taneja expressed, “For me, Navratri is tied to childhood memories and innocence. I remember going for Kanya Poojan, where the joy of eating puris, halwa, and chole was immense. However, I was most curious about how much money I would receive. I would ask people, ‘I’m small, please include me too.’ Those little moments, watching children in beautiful clothes with tiny purses, still bring a smile to my face.”

Taneja mentioned that he has been observing Navratri fasts since childhood. While he used to fast for all nine days in Delhi, moving to Mumbai and his shooting commitments have made it challenging. He now manages to fast on the first and last days or adjusts according to his work schedule. He noted, “I particularly enjoy the food during Navratri, especially the fasting-friendly French fries. Potatoes have always been my favorite.”

He also spoke about the significance of welcoming young girls during Navratri, washing their feet, feeding them, and receiving their blessings. “This tradition enhances the beauty of the festival for me. Navratri is not just about fasting; it’s about upholding family traditions and cherishing childhood memories. These small things make the festival special for me every year.”

Namish Taneja is a well-known name in the television industry, having appeared in popular shows such as “Ek Nayi Pehchaan,” “Swaragini – Jodein Rishton Ke Sur,” “Ikkyawan,” “Vidya,” and “Ae Mere Humsafar.”
