Dimple Kapadia Receives Relief from Bombay High Court as Anita Advanis Petition Dismissed

Mumbai, April 1: Actress Anita Advani faced a setback as the Bombay High Court dismissed her petition seeking legal recognition of her relationship with the late actor Rajesh Khanna.

The court ruled against Advani’s appeal, stating that her request to grant the relationship the status of marriage was unfounded. The Bombay High Court upheld the earlier decision made by the Dindoshi Sessions Court.

This case has been contentious since Rajesh Khanna’s passing in 2012, leading to a prolonged legal battle between his family and Advani. Justice Sharmila Deshmukh’s bench clearly stated, “First appeal dismissed,” indicating the rejection of Advani’s claims.

A detailed order from the court is still pending. During the hearings, the court also listened to arguments from representatives of Dimple Kapadia, Twinkle Khanna, and Akshay Kumar. Advani claimed that her relationship with Rajesh Khanna was long-term and akin to marriage. She alleged that following the actor’s death, she was evicted from his bungalow, ‘Aashirwad,’ and sought a share in his estate.

Additionally, Advani had filed a case of domestic violence against Akshay Kumar, Dimple Kapadia, and Twinkle Khanna. However, in 2015, the court dismissed this case, stating that the relationship between Advani and Rajesh Khanna did not qualify as a marriage. The court noted that a live-in relationship does not carry the same legal status as marriage, leading to the dismissal of her petition.

It is worth mentioning that the bungalow ‘Aashirwad,’ which was at the center of the dispute, has been sold some time ago. Rajesh Khanna spent his final days in this residence.
