Prashant Kishor Accuses SSP of Election Interference in Bankipur By-Election

Patna, August 2: Prashant Kishor, the leader of Jan Suraj and candidate for the Bankipur Assembly by-election, met with Bihar’s Chief Electoral Officer on Saturday. He accused the Patna police and district administration of attempting to influence the election. Following the meeting, he claimed that over the past two to three days, the police collaborated with the ruling party to intimidate voters and disrupt the electoral process.

In a conversation with the media, Kishor stated that he and seven senior associates submitted a formal complaint against the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Patna. He alleged that the SSP and his subordinates played a role in undermining the democratic process. Kishor mentioned that party workers were arrested without valid reasons, voters were threatened, and criminal elements engaged in misconduct in the presence of police.

According to him, details of these incidents and related evidence have been submitted to the Election Commission. Kishor asserted that the complaint includes specific evidence regarding the alleged involvement of police officials and a complete account of actions taken. He noted that the Chief Electoral Officer assured him that immediate action would be taken to investigate the matter.

The Jan Suraj leader indicated that the Chief Electoral Officer stated that appropriate action would be taken against any officials found culpable after the investigation. Kishor announced that he would hold a press conference on Sunday at 11 AM to publicly disclose all evidence submitted to the Election Commission. He plans to elaborate on the alleged irregularities during the election and the grounds for filing the complaint against police officials.
