Beijing, September 14 (Daily Kiran) : In a recent interview with China Media Group, former Jordanian Prime Minister Omar al-Razzaz shared insights from his multiple visits to China. He expressed admiration for the country’s ability to seamlessly integrate cultural heritage with technological innovation, calling its overall development commendable.
Razzaz has toured several cities, including Beijing, Chengdu, Chongqing, and Xi’an. He was particularly struck by the harmonious coexistence of modernity and cultural depth. “There is no need to choose between modernity and tradition here,” he noted. “There is no contradiction between the two. China’s overall development is truly commendable.”
He also praised China’s experiences in local governance. During a visit in 2024, he reviewed the operation of Beijing’s 12345 Citizen Service Hotline. Collaborating with a Chinese scholar, he co-authored a research paper that described the hotline as an “ideal model of efficient and balanced governance.” Razzaz explained that this hotline not only addresses citizens’ complaints but also aids government decision-making through data analysis, contributing to accountability based on citizen satisfaction. “This governance system profoundly impresses me. China should share this experience with the world,” he remarked.
Discussing artificial intelligence governance, Razzaz commended President Xi Jinping’s proposed “Global Artificial Intelligence Governance Initiative.” He highlighted Xi’s vision that the development of AI should be a symphony of global cooperation rather than the achievement of a single nation.
Razzaz acknowledged China’s leading role in global AI governance. He also praised Xi’s four major global initiatives, calling them visionary and indicative of a path toward peaceful coexistence in the world. “The world needs such leadership,” he stated.
He emphasized the significance of King Abdullah II of Jordan’s state visit to China in August, noting that next year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Jordan. Razzaz expressed hope for deeper collaboration between the two nations in areas such as green energy, electric vehicles, education, and talent development. He specifically mentioned that Jordan has a complete education system for the Chinese language from undergraduate to postgraduate levels, which strengthens cultural ties between the two countries.
Additionally, Razzaz extended an invitation to Chinese tourists, encouraging them to experience Jordan’s unique attractions, including the ancient city of Petra and the Dead Sea, along with the friendly and safe social environment in his country.
