Udaipur, September 7 (Kiran News). Hindustan Zinc Limited, the world’s largest zinc producer and among the top five silver producers, unveiled the official poster and race-day jersey for the second edition of the Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon. The launch ceremony was attended by Chief Conservator of Forests Udaipur Sunil Chhidri, Hindustan Zinc CEO and Whole-Time Director Arun Misra, Deputy Conservator of Forests Mukesh Saini, DTO Nitin Bohra, and “Anybody Can Run” founder Dr. Manoj Soni. They jointly unveiled the marathon poster and jersey, designed in vibrant shades of blue, orange, and pink — symbolising inclusivity, energy, and unity.

The marathon will begin at Udaipur’s Field Club and will feature multiple categories — Half Marathon (21 km), Cool Run (10 km), Dream Run (5 km), and a special “Race with Champions” event for persons with disabilities. Hindustan Zinc’s Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon is a certified member of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS), placing it on the global marathon calendar.

The scenic route will cover the iconic Fateh Sagar Lake and the Aravalli hills, offering runners a unique blend of fitness and Udaipur’s cultural heritage. Last year’s inaugural edition attracted over 5,000 runners from across the world, and this year the event promises an even grander experience.

Speaking at the launch, Chief Conservator of Forests Sunil Chhidri said the marathon has become a landmark event for Udaipur, contributing not only to health and fitness but also to the noble mission of eradicating malnutrition. “This is not just a one-day event but the result of year-long efforts. Vedanta Zinc’s initiative is truly commendable,” he added.

Hindustan Zinc CEO Arun Misra highlighted the company’s commitment to social impact through sports. “The Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon is more than just a race — it is a celebration of inclusivity, endurance, and the spirit of Udaipur. By supporting the Run for Zero Hunger initiative, we are proud to connect fitness with a noble cause that empowers communities for a healthier future,” he said.

Known as one of India’s most picturesque marathons, the event showcases Udaipur’s lakes, palaces, and natural beauty. With over 3,000 years of zinc mining heritage, the city rightly bears the title Zinc City. Hosting this marathon further strengthens Udaipur’s identity as both a cultural capital and a growing sports hub, boosting tourism in the Lake City.

Hindustan Zinc has long been a leader in sports-driven community development, through initiatives like Zinc Football Academy, India’s first residential girls’ football academy, grassroots cricket, kabaddi, handball, volleyball programmes, and the Zinc Football Nand Ghar project.
