Gold and Silver Prices Decline Amid Rising Inflation Concerns

Mumbai, September 11 (Daily Kiran) : Gold and silver prices opened lower on Friday, September 11, 2026, with both precious metals seeing a decline of approximately 1.10 percent. On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), the gold contract for October 5, 2026, fell by ₹1,571 or 1.03 percent, trading at ₹1,50,770 per 10 grams, compared to the previous closing of ₹1,52,341 per 10 grams.

In early trading, gold showed slight recovery, reaching ₹1,51,474 per 10 grams, down by ₹867 or 0.57 percent at 9:48 AM. Throughout the session, the price fluctuated, hitting a low of ₹1,50,695 and a high of ₹1,51,483 per 10 grams.

Silver prices also experienced a downturn. The December 4, 2026, silver contract opened at ₹2,31,569 per kilogram, down by ₹2,530 or 1.08 percent from the previous close of ₹2,34,099 per kilogram. During trading, silver reached a low of ₹2,30,270 and a high of ₹2,32,096 per kilogram.

Internationally, gold and silver prices continued to decline, with gold on COMEX down by 1.29 percent at $4,350 per ounce, and silver dropping by 1.99 percent to $63.63 per ounce. Analysts attribute the drop in gold and silver prices to rising tensions in the Middle East, which have strengthened the dollar. The dollar index, reflecting the dollar’s strength against several major currencies, reached a one-week high of 99.12.

Additionally, inflation data from the U.S. is expected later in the evening, which may influence the future direction of gold prices. Investors remain cautious as they await these crucial economic indicators.
