New Delhi, September 11 (Daily Kiran) : India’s electronics export sector has seen a remarkable increase in trade with BRICS nations. The Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) reported on September 11 that exports to BRICS countries rose by 49.27% in the fiscal year 2025-26. This growth far exceeds the overall export increase of 26.53% for the country.
In a statement, the ESC noted that the upcoming 18th BRICS Summit, scheduled for September 12-13 in New Delhi, could further enhance this momentum through proposals aimed at digital collaboration and trade facilitation.
The council emphasized that this robust performance indicates significant potential for transforming digital and technical cooperation with BRICS nations into business opportunities. If effectively implemented, proposals related to digital infrastructure and trade facilitation could greatly benefit Indian exporters.
Among BRICS countries, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and China remain the largest importers of Indian electronics products. Together, they accounted for 88.50% of India’s total electronics exports to BRICS nations. Telecommunications equipment emerged as the largest export segment, representing 74.60% of total exports.
The ESC reported that BRICS countries contribute approximately 19.61% to India’s global electronics exports. The council believes that deeper cooperation among member countries could boost the demand for network devices, device certification, and software that operates shared digital infrastructure.
Gurmeet Singh, CEO and Executive Director of the ESC, stated that several topics on the agenda during India’s BRICS presidency could prove crucial for future electronics exports. However, the ultimate impact will depend on how swiftly and seriously member countries advance these proposals.
Singh highlighted discussions on the BRICS Digital Public Infrastructure Repository and a recent ICT agreement between India and Brazil, signed last month in Pune. This agreement emphasizes collaboration in areas like 5G, 6G, Open RAN, and satellite connectivity, which could lay the groundwork for future digital cooperation within BRICS.
The council also mentioned the proposed BRICS Global Value Chain Action Plan for 2026-2030 and an MSME cooperation portal, which could play a vital role in connecting Indian electronics firms—especially small and medium enterprises—with international supply chains. This would provide Indian companies opportunities to access new markets and increase their share in the global manufacturing network.
Rajesh Revankar, president of the ESC, stated that this proposed framework could create new opportunities for Indian electronics exporters, particularly benefiting the MSME sector as they become part of emerging cross-border value chains.
Additionally, the council pointed out a significant proposal for a BRICS Invoice Discounting Mechanism, aimed at alleviating trade financing challenges faced by MSMEs. Industry experts believe this arrangement could be particularly advantageous for Indian exporters planning to expand into markets like Saudi Arabia, Russia, Indonesia, and South Africa.
