New Delhi, September 9 (Daily Kiran) : Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah stood during the full rendition of “Vande Mataram” at a recent event. Their display of respect for the national song contrasts sharply with Congress, which has raised objections to singing it in its entirety.
The BJP has commended the National Conference (NC) leaders for their actions. BJP officials have criticized Congress, suggesting that the party prioritizes its own interests over national unity.
BJP MP Jugal Kishore Sharma remarked that Congress has historically failed to demonstrate dedication to the country. He emphasized that individuals should act in ways that inspire others to put the nation first, rather than their party or family.
Fellow BJP MP Gulam Ali Khatana noted that “Vande Mataram” has inspired millions. He praised the central government‘s efforts under Prime Minister Narendra Modi to honor the song appropriately and urged Congress to adapt to changing times.
Sanjay Bhatia, another BJP MP, expressed gratitude towards the National Conference for their adherence to the Constitution. He pointed out that Congress has previously disrespected “Vande Mataram,” even after the Supreme Court‘s rulings, merely for publicity and false popularity.
Haryana Minister Shyam Singh Rana highlighted the song’s historical significance in uniting the nation and questioned why Congress, which once embraced it, now opposes it.
In Bihar, Minister Pramod Kumar suggested that Congress lacks historical awareness, noting that “Vande Mataram,” penned by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, has long served as a source of inspiration for freedom fighters. He accused some of politicizing the song for electoral gain, jeopardizing the nation’s cultural integrity.
Chhattisgarh Minister O.P. Chaudhary criticized Congress for its lengthy governance after independence, claiming it led the country towards economic decline and political turmoil, even reaching the point of declaring an emergency.
Tensions surrounding “Vande Mataram” continue to spark debate, highlighting the deep political divides in the country.
