New Delhi, August 13: Independent MP Pappu Yadav from Purnia has responded to the upcoming march led by Tejashwi Yadav of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) scheduled for August 19. He stated that the public is no longer willing to accept political agendas. Additionally, Yadav advised Tejashwi to learn from Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav.
Speaking to a news agency, Pappu Yadav remarked on the changing political landscape due to the emergence of Gen Z and Alpha generations. He noted, “People have lost trust in political parties, except for perhaps one or two percent of leaders. Almost 98-99 percent of leaders do not prioritize Bihar’s future, and the state does not wish to think about such individuals.”
He continued, “If they (Tejashwi Yadav) want to learn, they should take lessons from Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav. However, there seems to be no desire to learn. They prefer to remain in a deep slumber like Kumbhkaran. Therefore, people will no longer accept political agendas, which will become irrelevant to the common man. Consequently, the shops of political parties, especially smaller ones, are likely to close down.”
On the issue of alcohol prohibition in Bihar, Pappu Yadav commented on a study by NCAER, stating, “What has actually succeeded in Bihar? The alcohol ban has failed, drugs have reached every household, and crime has surged. It appears that only leaders and officials are managing to save themselves, while the common man is left to fend for himself. Poverty is at its peak.”
The MP highlighted rampant corruption within the government, claiming that items priced at one thousand rupees are being billed at fifteen thousand. He pointed out corruption in municipal corporations, stating that billions of rupees have been embezzled from hospitals to municipalities.
Reiterating his stance, he asserted that the alcohol ban has never been successful. He emphasized the need to change the approach to prohibition and conduct evaluations, which have been neglected for 20-25 years. He claimed that the ban has economically harmed the state and facilitated the spread of drugs.
Regarding the announcement by former Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghuvar Das to join the student movement in Ranchi, Pappu Yadav stated, “Raghuvar Das and the BJP have no future left. They face numerous corruption allegations. First, they should protest these issues within the BJP. There are four former chief ministers, and their internal conflicts are ongoing. Raghuvar Das has lost all credibility. He must first answer for what has been looted from the people of Jharkhand and address the paper leaks that occurred during his administration.”
