New Delhi, September 3 (Daily Kiran) : The appointment of retired Air Marshal Jitendra Mishra as the new CEO of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has ignited political discussions in New Delhi. Leaders from various parties have expressed their views on the significance of this decision.
Samajwadi Party leader ST Hasan voiced his confidence in Mishra’s integrity, citing his military background. He emphasized the need for transparency in the role, stating, “Most military personnel are honest. We hope he will work with integrity. However, government pressure may arise, and time will tell.” Hasan also urged the BJP to ensure that only transparent and honest individuals are appointed.
Commenting on the upcoming Uttar Pradesh elections, Hasan questioned the BJP’s intentions, suggesting they might aim to position one of their leaders as Chief Minister. He expressed optimism about the opposition coalition’s potential to challenge the BJP in the 2024 elections, asserting that Akhilesh Yadav remains a strong candidate for the Chief Minister’s position.
Jharkhand Mukti Morcha MP Mahua Maji welcomed the appointment but stressed the importance of addressing past irregularities at the Ram Temple site. She criticized the lack of accountability for those involved in previous mismanagement, stating, “While small fish have been caught, the big fish still roam free.” Maji underscored the temple’s significance as a center of faith for all Hindus and called for strict oversight of its operations.
Dr. Salim Raj, chairman of the Waqf Board, praised the appointment, calling it a commendable decision that reflects Prime Minister Modi’s vision. He expressed confidence that Mishra’s leadership would restore transparency and curb corruption associated with the temple’s administration.
BJP leader Smita Agarwal echoed this sentiment, asserting that appointing a retired Air Marshal should inspire confidence in the temple’s management. She noted that if such individuals are trusted to lead national safety efforts, they should be equally capable in overseeing the temple.
Nationalist Congress Party spokesperson Naseem Siddiqui remarked on the government’s prerogative in appointments, expressing hope that Mishra’s background would prevent misappropriation of donations meant for the temple.
Congress leader Harish Rawat refrained from commenting on the appointment’s merit but highlighted that the trust should reflect the inclusive nature of Lord Ram, stating, “Lord Ram belongs to everyone.”
Janata Dal (United) leader Ashok Chaudhary expressed increased trust in the temple’s management due to Mishra’s military experience, citing his leadership in operations against terrorism.
