New Delhi, September 20 (Daily Kiran) : Political tensions are rising in New Delhi following an incident where Rahul Gandhi mimicked Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the “Voice of Students” program. Leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal (United) have condemned Gandhi’s actions, labeling them as a disgrace to the office of the Prime Minister.
Neeraj Kumar, a member of the Legislative Council from JD(U), expressed his outrage, stating, “This was a very unfortunate incident. In our history, two prime ministers from the Nehru family, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi, sacrificed their lives in the fight against terrorism. The individual holding the constitutional position of Prime Minister deserves respect.” He questioned the appropriateness of imitating a deceased family member, emphasizing the need to honor one’s ancestors and criticizing Gandhi’s leadership within the Congress party.
Minister Shrawan Kumar remarked, “The public is watching and understanding everything. They will teach them a lesson.”
BJP MLC Nawal Kishore Yadav added, “Rahul Gandhi is incapable of doing anything worthwhile. Sometimes a person’s physical stature can be large, but their mindset remains small.”
In comments regarding the Bahujan Samaj Party, Samajwadi Party MP Virendra Singh noted, “Mayawati has run out of options. She keeps replacing one leader with another, which is unfortunate for the party.”
Addressing the controversy surrounding Gandhi’s remarks, Singh accused the BJP of skillfully diverting attention from real issues. He claimed that the mockery made during the rally was being manipulated to target the Prime Minister.
Former CPI (M) MP Hannan Mollah commented on the results of the Delhi University student elections, stating that the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) continues to win, which is not surprising given the communal influences affecting a significant portion of the student body.
Mollah also criticized the BJP’s tendency to make false accusations, asserting that mocking Prime Minister Modi is not a new phenomenon. He suggested that Gandhi’s actions are causing fear within the BJP, stating that education could pose a significant challenge for the government. He highlighted that Gandhi convened the meeting to better understand the struggles of the youth.
