Mahasamund, September 17 (Daily Kiran) : In Mahasamund, authorities have swiftly cracked a case involving a gang that robbed a pedestrian of a mobile phone and cash. Within just 24 hours of the incident, police arrested four adults and took four minors into custody.
The incident occurred on September 15, around 2:30 PM, when Dinesh Kumar Suryavanshi was returning home on his motorcycle after working at a Jio tower in the village of Ghunchapali. Near the railway crossing at Dhan Mandi in Bagbahara, a group of young men stopped him.
According to reports, the assailants physically assaulted Suryavanshi and threatened him with a knife, stealing his Realme 15 5G mobile phone and 200 rupees in cash. The total value of the stolen items is estimated at approximately 28,200 rupees. Following his complaint, police registered a case at the Bagbahara police station and launched an investigation.
Investigators questioned witnesses at the scene and gathered descriptions of the suspects based on Suryavanshi’s account. This led to significant clues about the alleged thieves. After detaining several suspects for questioning, the police confirmed their involvement in the robbery.
During the interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime. Police recovered the stolen mobile phone, the cash, and a knife used in the robbery based on their information.
The four adult suspects arrested are identified as Shivdas (26), Vasu Sonwani (19), Shivprasad alias Kanhaiya Netam (22), and Raj Tandi (19), all residents of Ward Number 10 in Bagbahara. Additionally, four minors involved in the incident were also taken into custody.
Authorities reported that the arrested adults face charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including Sections 310(2) and 126(1), as well as the Arms Act under Sections 25 and 27. The adult suspects have been remanded to judicial custody, while the minors have been sent to a juvenile observation home.
