Hardoi, March 15: In a significant police operation in Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh, four criminals were apprehended during an encounter on Saturday. Authorities recovered a mobile phone, a .315 bore pistol, and cartridges from the suspects.
Police officials reported that on February 25, a man named Sarvesh was returning home with his family from a wedding when armed assailants in a car intercepted them near Tikra village. The criminals threatened the family and stole cash, a mobile phone, and jewelry from Sarvesh’s wife. The police had been searching for these suspects for some time, as they frequently changed their locations.
On the previous day, police received a tip-off indicating that the four criminals were planning another robbery near Gadhi Khera Mor. Acting on this information, police cordoned off the area and initiated a search operation. When the police signaled a suspicious vehicle to stop, the suspects attempted to flee by turning the car around. Cornered, the criminals opened fire on the police.
In response, the Sandila police engaged in the encounter. One of the suspects, identified as Vivek, sustained a gunshot wound to his left leg. The remaining three suspects—Shivam, Shubham, and Suraj—surrendered. Police recovered ₹17,100 in stolen cash, a Desire car used in the crime, a mobile phone, and the .315 bore pistol along with cartridges.
Additionally, Head Constable Diwakar Mishra was injured during the operation. Both the wounded suspect Vivek and the police officer have been admitted to the hospital, where they are receiving treatment.
During interrogation, the suspects revealed that they committed thefts and robberies driven by the desire to earn quick money. Police officials noted that these four individuals were previously involved in several criminal activities.
