New Delhi, March 15: Domestic airlines have canceled several flights to the Middle East region on Sunday. The majority of these cancellations involve flights to the UAE cities of Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
The reason for these cancellations is the escalating tensions in the region.
Air India and Air India Express have canceled multiple flights to West Asian countries, while IndiGo has also suspended its flights to Dubai.
In a statement, the Air India group said, “In light of the new directives from airport authorities in the United Arab Emirates, Air India and Air India Express are compelled to reduce their temporary flights for March 15, 2026.”
The statement further noted, “Air India will operate one return flight from Delhi to Dubai, having canceled four out of five scheduled flights to Dubai. Air India Express will also operate one return flight from Delhi to Dubai, canceling five out of six planned flights. All five flights to Abu Dhabi by Air India Express have been canceled.”
Air India Express plans to operate flights from Delhi, Kannur, Kochi, Kozhikode, Mumbai, and Thiruvananthapuram. Additionally, Air India Express will run flights between Ras Al Khaimah-Kozhikode and Ras Al Khaimah-Kochi.
The airline stated, “These flights will be operated based on slot availability and operational timing conditions.”
IndiGo announced that it has canceled flights to and from Dubai due to airspace restrictions related to the escalating conflict between the USA, Israel, and Iran.
IndiGo further mentioned, “Due to the changing situation in the Middle East, flight operations to Dubai have been further restricted, leading to changes in the flight schedule. Passengers traveling to and from Dubai are advised to check their flight status before heading to the airport. We are also sending notifications to keep passengers informed with the latest updates.”
In a previous post, IndiGo also stated that it is working closely with relevant authorities to gradually restore its flight network across the region, including select routes to Europe.
