Mumbai, June 30: In a significant operation, police in Bhilwara district arrested nine individuals involved in illegal gambling at a farmhouse in the Sawai Pur area. The District Special Team (DST) and Badliyas police seized ₹1,31,590 in cash, two vehicles, and gambling materials from the scene.
The police action took place late Sunday night after receiving a tip-off about a group gambling approximately 150 meters inside a farmhouse off the highway. It was reported that some individuals were stationed outside to monitor police activities while others participated in the gambling inside.
Upon confirming the information, the police quickly devised a plan for immediate action. Badliyas station chief Jaswant Singh stated that constables Sandeep Kumar and Shravan Kumar were dispatched to the location. The police opted for a swift raid, fearing that obtaining a search warrant could allow the gamblers to escape.
Surrounding the farmhouse, the police entered the premises. While some individuals managed to flee by scaling the walls, authorities apprehended nine suspects engaged in card games.
The police recovered ₹1,31,590 in cash and other gambling paraphernalia from the site. Additionally, two vehicles parked at the farmhouse were confiscated.
A case has been registered at the Badliyas police station, and investigations are underway. Among those arrested are Dilbar Pathan, Prakash Chandwani Sindhi, Firoz Pathan, Mohammad Zahid, and Muzaffar Sheikh from Bhilwara district. Also arrested were Kailash Chandra Khatik and Sharif Mohammad from Chittorgarh district, Mohsin alias Sonu Shah from Rajsamand district, and Gunwant Sharma from Neemuch, Madhya Pradesh.
Police officials indicated that the investigation is ongoing to identify other individuals involved in the gambling operation and to determine the roles of those who managed to escape. Authorities have pledged to continue their crackdown on illegal gambling activities.
