PM Modis mention of Shabari Natural in Mann Ki Baat celebrates Maharashtras tribal products and culture, boosting community recognition.

Nashik, October 26 (Daily Kiran) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently acknowledged the ‘Shabari Natural’ brand during the 139th episode of his radio program, ‘Mann Ki Baat.’ This initiative promotes traditional tribal products, including honey, handicrafts, and bamboo items, helping Maharashtra’s tribal communities gain recognition on both national and international platforms, including a prestigious global design award from Japan.

In an interview, Diwan Sonwane, the marketing head of ‘Shabari Natural,’ expressed gratitude to PM Modi for featuring their products. The brand was established under the Maharashtra Tribal Development Department through the ‘Shabari Tribal Finance and Development Corporation.’ Its goal is to enhance the income of tribal communities while honoring their cultural heritage.

Sonwane noted that in the same episode, PM Modi spoke about the artistry and craftsmanship of tribal communities. He emphasized the importance of this recognition for Maharashtra’s diverse tribal cultures. The products offered by ‘Shabari Natural’ originate from various districts in Maharashtra, and the brand aims to elevate them to a national audience. The recent design award is a significant achievement, particularly as it has garnered international acclaim.

The ‘Shabari Natural’ brand features a wide range of items, including food products, forest-based goods, natural honey, and traditional jewelry. These products are crafted by different tribal communities in Maharashtra, utilizing their traditional knowledge and local resources. For instance, the Gond community in Bhandara district produces mahua honey and syrup, while the Kokna and Bhil communities in Dhule create mahua oil and chocolate.

Additionally, the brand showcases cultural artifacts such as Bohada masks from the Nashik region and Dokra crafts made by the Madia Gond community in the Bhamragad area of Gadchiroli district. These handmade items reflect the rich cultural heritage and traditional craftsmanship of tribal communities.
