
New Delhi, June 29: Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor TS Sandhu held discussions on traffic management with senior police officials on Monday. The meeting focused on implementing Intelligent Traffic Management Systems to develop area-specific solutions and strategies to curb illegal parking.
After the meeting, LG Sandhu shared insights on social media platform ‘X’, stating, “Today, I reviewed a detailed presentation from the Delhi Traffic Police Commissioner and senior officials.”
Sandhu expressed enthusiasm about the concentrated efforts and strategic measures being taken to improve traffic management across Delhi. He noted that immediate actions at congested hotspots, along with ongoing engineering measures and technology-based solutions, have started to show gradual improvements.
He emphasized, “Strict action against violations such as driving in the wrong direction and unauthorized parking must remain a continuous priority.”
Sandhu also highlighted the encouraging progress of the citizen-centric ‘Project Sangam’, which aims to strengthen engagement with local residents and develop solutions tailored to community needs. He instructed his team to maintain momentum by focusing on future-ready infrastructure, Intelligent Traffic Management Systems, and advanced technology.
He assured that he would fully support the ongoing efforts of the Delhi Traffic Police to provide every citizen with an uninterrupted, safe, and efficient commuting experience.
Earlier, the Lieutenant Governor reviewed issues related to traffic and digital traffic management with senior officials, emphasizing the need for AI utilization and enhanced community participation to achieve congestion-free roads.
A statement noted that during his discussions with Delhi Traffic Police personnel, the Lieutenant Governor stressed their crucial role in establishing the city as a global hub for investment and tourism while ensuring seamless mobility.
LG Sandhu also mentioned on social media platform ‘X’, “Today, we had a productive session at the Delhi Traffic Police’s Todapur facility. We reviewed the progress of the digital enforcement framework and emphasized enhancing artificial intelligence for 24/7 transparent monitoring and scientific management of traffic during peak hours.”
He concluded, “Traffic jams waste not only time and fuel but also contribute to pollution. We emphasized increasing the ground presence of traffic police, especially in crowded areas, to ensure smooth traffic flow and prevent congestion.”
