Police Conduct Search at TMC MLA Madan Mitras Home in Kamrahati

Kolkata, May 31: Police conducted a search operation at the residence of Trinamool Congress MLA Madan Mitra in the Kamrahati area of North 24 Parganas on Sunday. The operation was led by Dyutiman Bhattacharya, Deputy Commissioner (South) of the Barrackpore Police Commissionerate.

Upon arriving at Mitra’s home, the police found the premises locked and the MLA absent. They forcibly entered the property by breaking the lock. After searching for about an hour, they secured the house again before leaving. The residence is reportedly named ‘Uday Villa.’

Madan Mitra, who represents the Kamrahati assembly constituency, also has a party office at this location. Allegations have surfaced that the land on which this house stands belongs to a central agency. The police are investigating how a structure was built on land owned by a central authority.

According to police reports, a large team entered the ‘Uday Villa’ complex around 1 PM. Local sources indicate that Mitra occasionally stays at this residence. However, it remains unclear whether he is the actual owner of the property. During the search, several documents were seized.

Close associates of Madan Mitra have stated that he is currently at his residence in South Kolkata. A meeting of the Trinamool Congress is scheduled for Sunday evening at Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s residence in Kalighat.

Political circles are closely monitoring how many of the 80 MLAs from the Trinamool Congress who won the assembly elections will attend this meeting. Sources claim that Madan Mitra is in Kolkata to participate in this gathering.

Since the change of government in the state, police and municipal authorities have intensified actions against illegal constructions that proliferated during the tenure of the Trinamool Congress government.

It is alleged that many of these illegal constructions were promoted by real estate developers with the support of influential party leaders. Bulldozers have been deployed to demolish such illegal structures in various areas.
