New Delhi, March 9: The police have successfully solved a recent snatching case in the Gokulpuri area of New Delhi. Authorities arrested a notorious snatcher and recovered the victim’s stolen mobile phone along with the motorcycle used in the crime.
On March 4, 2026, a complaint about snatching was filed at the Gokulpuri police station. The complainant, Pankaj (35), a resident of Amar Colony, Gokulpuri, reported that while walking home from the Gokulpuri Metro Station, an unidentified individual on a motorcycle suddenly snatched his mobile phone and fled the scene.
Based on this complaint, an FIR was registered under Section 304(2) of the Indian Penal Code at the Gokulpuri police station, and an investigation was initiated. A special team was formed under the leadership of the station’s SHO, which collected CCTV footage from the vicinity, witness statements, and other clues.
During the investigation, the team suspected that Shahan Mohammad (27), son of the late Nabi Mohammad and a resident of Gali No. 11, Kardampuri, Delhi, was involved in the incident. The police acted swiftly and arrested the accused. During interrogation, Shahan Mohammad confessed to his crime. The stolen mobile phone belonging to Pankaj was recovered from him. Following his lead, the police also seized the motorcycle used in the crime.
Further investigation revealed that Shahan Mohammad had previously been involved in six criminal cases related to snatching, robbery, and violations of the Arms Act. He was already known to the police. This action by the Gokulpuri police has strengthened the sense of security among local residents. The investigation is ongoing, and the police are also exploring his involvement in other potential crimes.
