Lucknow, September 11 (Daily Kiran) : The Uttar Pradesh government is taking significant steps to streamline land-related processes, including transfers and divisions, by expanding online services. Under the direction of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, a digital platform has been introduced to facilitate tracking from application to resolution.
On Friday, the Revenue Council launched three new portals: the Section 116 portal, the EWS portal, and a simplified land record system. Archana Agarwal, chairperson of the Revenue Council, emphasized the government’s commitment to making revenue services more accessible to the public. These new portals aim to reduce unnecessary paperwork and visits to offices, while also promoting transparency and accountability in land-related matters.
The new Section 116 portal allows co-owners to apply online for land division, significantly reducing the need for repeated trips to government offices. The notice and declaration processes will also be managed digitally, and reports from the concerned revenue officials will be available on the portal. Additionally, Google Maps integration will allow users to view the actual geographical status of the land, enhancing understanding of related details.
This initiative is expected to improve coordination between the judiciary and field-level revenue officials. The digital system is designed to simplify and clarify the processes involved in land division, which often require essential documents like land maps and records. It is anticipated that these changes will expedite the resolution of land division cases, particularly benefiting economically weaker sections (EWS).
Through the new EWS portal, eligible citizens can now apply online for EWS certificates. After submission, the applications will be processed digitally at the levels of revenue officials and tehsildars. The progress of each case can be monitored online, reducing the need for citizens to navigate multiple offices. This system aims to enhance transparency and accountability in the issuance of certificates.
The Revenue Council has also simplified land records for the general public. The new simplified land record system will display land area with greater precision, down to six decimal places. This change is particularly beneficial for small plots and related issues, providing clearer information. Additionally, the system will systematically present historical orders and mortgage records, aiding citizens and officials in understanding previous ownership and related documents.
During the launch of the three new portals, trainee PCS officers were present and received training on modern and accurate land measurement techniques. Archana Agarwal addressed the trainees, highlighting the direct connection between revenue administration and citizens’ land rights. She urged young officials to work with sensitivity, fairness, and a spirit of public service, emphasizing the importance of utilizing technology to resolve citizens’ issues efficiently.
