New Delhi, May 18: BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi highlighted Prime Minister Modi’s global achievements, including receiving Sweden’s Royal Order of the Polar Star. He defended India’s foreign policy decisions while criticizing the opposition’s stance and questions raised about international trips.
During the initial phases of this tour, Trivedi noted that during Modi’s visit to the UAE, an agreement was reached for the UAE to increase India’s strategic oil reserves by 3 million barrels. This enhancement will significantly strengthen India’s oil reserves, making energy-related challenges more manageable and effective. Additionally, a UAE company announced a $5 billion investment in India, boosting the country’s economic growth through foreign direct investment.
Trivedi pointed out that the UAE has separated from OPEC (Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries), allowing it to make independent decisions regarding petroleum exports. This opens avenues for India to negotiate bilateral agreements to address its oil crisis. Moreover, the need for routes through the Strait of Hormuz may be reduced, making it beneficial for India amid current challenges and potential crises.
He also emphasized another crucial aspect of India’s strategic needs. With the increasing use of chips, the agreements with the Netherlands and Sweden are significant. The Netherlands plays a vital role in chip manufacturing components, marking a milestone in India’s self-reliance in this sector.
Furthermore, the decision to repatriate copper plates from the 11th-century Chola Empire, which showcase India’s ancient civilization and its excellence, adds a cultural dimension to this tour. Thus, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s foreign visit is a significant achievement in strategic (oil needs), economic (foreign direct investment), and cultural (return of Chola artifacts) terms.
