New Delhi, September 17 (Daily Kiran) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the fifth edition of Semicon India 2026 on Thursday at the Yashobhoomi convention center in New Delhi. This significant event will bring together global semiconductor companies, policymakers, investors, researchers, startups, and academics to showcase India’s expanding capabilities in the semiconductor and electronics value chain.
The three-day event runs from Thursday through September 19, featuring the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), and SEMI, a global industry association representing the semiconductor and electronics design and manufacturing ecosystem.
Approximately 600 exhibitors, including around 300 international companies, will participate in the exhibition covering 15,000 square meters. Over 150 speakers are expected to discuss key developments and challenges within the semiconductor and electronics ecosystem.
The exhibition will include pavilions from six countries and 12 state governments, along with dedicated platforms for startups, innovation, workforce development, and women in the semiconductor industry. The startup pavilion will showcase nearly 40 startups, while the workforce development pavilion will focus on talent, skills, and career opportunities in microelectronics.
A highlight of the exhibition will be the new “From Sand to Silicon to Systems” value chain experience, offering visitors an integrated view of the semiconductor ecosystem, including advanced packaging, chip design, electronics, and manufacturing.
The event will also feature a startup pitch competition, a student hackathon, and innovation showcases, providing a platform for emerging companies, researchers, and students to present their ideas and technologies.
Conference sessions will cover semiconductor manufacturing and technology, artificial intelligence, supply chain resilience, advanced packaging, materials and equipment, chip design, research and development, startups, innovation, and talent development through keynote speeches, panel discussions, and strategic sessions.
On Wednesday, Prime Minister Modi urged leading CEOs to participate in the next phase of India’s semiconductor development during a roundtable conference. According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, he emphasized the importance of close collaboration between the government and the semiconductor industry in shaping India’s technological future.
He highlighted India’s strong foundation in terms of talent, technology adoption, and infrastructure, calling for greater industry involvement in skill development, innovation, and emerging technologies like AI and quantum computing.
