New Delhi, July 23: The National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC), in collaboration with Maharashtra Industrial Township Limited (MITL), launched a two-day cross-learning site visit program at the Auric Smart City in the Shendra-Bidkin Industrial Area on Thursday. This initiative aims to share knowledge, strengthen institutional capacities, and promote the adoption of successful practices for greenfield industrial smart city projects being developed across the country.
Senior officials from various states, Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) representatives, Program Managers for New Cities (PMNC), EPC contractors, and other stakeholders participated in the event. All attendees exchanged experiences and best practices related to the planning, construction, and operation of greenfield industrial smart cities.
Addressing the participants, NICDC CEO and MD Rajat Kumar Saini stated that Auric has emerged as an exemplary integrated industrial city developed under the National Industrial Corridor Development Program (NICDP). He emphasized that this project demonstrates how world-class infrastructure, investor-centric planning, technology-based governance, and multimodal connectivity can create a globally competitive manufacturing ecosystem.
Saini also suggested that SPVs should be granted greater autonomy in planning to ensure effective land use, better infrastructure optimization, and easier future expansions. He noted that such cross-learning programs play a crucial role in replicating successful models in industrial corridor projects.
On the first day of the program, participants were briefed on Auric’s planning framework and integrated infrastructure. They toured the development of the Shendra-Bidkin Industrial Area, exploring digital planning and monitoring systems, operational industrial units, utility infrastructure, connectivity projects, and industrial development facilities.
Discussions during the program covered topics such as integrated master planning, project implementation, land use, investor facilitation, digital governance, and project monitoring. Participants shared experiences on enhancing coordination among various agencies and accelerating infrastructure development in industrial corridor projects.
The implementation framework of the Bharat Industrial Development Plan (BIDP) was also discussed. This is a key initiative by NICDC, aimed at developing world-class plug-and-play industrial parks across the country. Participants deliberated on how experiences related to Auric’s integrated planning, digital governance, utility infrastructure, and investor facilitation could be leveraged for projects developed under the BIDP.
