New Delhi, July 18: Skyroot Aerospace’s Vikram-1 and Mission Agnayan are set to launch from Sriharikota. Prime Minister Narendra Modi described this event as a historic chapter in India’s space exploration. He extended his best wishes to the Skyroot team for this significant launch, expressing hope that Vikram-1 will reach new heights, make history, and inspire a new generation of innovators.
In a post on the social media platform X, PM Modi stated, “A new historic chapter in India’s space journey. At 11:30 AM today, Skyroot Aerospace will launch Vikram-1, India’s first privately developed orbital launch vehicle. This four-stage rocket is designed to provide rapid and on-demand launch services.”
He further emphasized, “This mission exemplifies the talent, determination, and entrepreneurial spirit of our youth. It also demonstrates how reforms in the space sector are opening new opportunities for innovation and enterprise. I wish the entire Skyroot Aerospace team success for the launch. May Vikram-1 reach new heights, create history, and inspire a generation of innovators.”
PM Modi urged citizens, especially the youth, to watch this historic mission and send their best wishes to Team Skyroot using the hashtag ‘India with Vikram-1.’
Notably, Vikram-1 is India’s first privately developed rocket, designed to place satellites into orbit. Its orbital adjustment module is powered by a fully 3D-printed liquid engine, marking the first time such an engine is used in an Indian orbital launch vehicle.
Mission Agnayan is Skyroot Aerospace’s inaugural orbital test flight, representing the first attempt by an Indian private company to reach orbit with its rocket.
The mission includes a small payload featuring miniature statues of Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, Sir C.V. Raman, and Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. Vikram-1 will also carry “Cosmic Bloom,” a lab-created diamond, as an artistic payload into orbit.
Additionally, a card containing PM Modi’s best wishes and the message “Vande Mataram” will be sent along with hundreds of greetings from supporters worldwide as part of Mission Agnayan.
