New Delhi, December 5: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived at Hyderabad House to begin their bilateral talks. During the meeting, PM Modi addressed India-Russia relations and clearly articulated India’s position on the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine. The Prime Minister emphasized that India’s stance is crystal clear – the country stands with peace.
PM Modi said, “Since yesterday, delegation members have been busy in numerous meetings. This summit is progressing with many outcomes. President, your visit is truly historic. It has been 25 years since you took charge in 2001 and first visited India. During that first visit itself, the foundation of strategic partnership was laid. Personally, I am delighted that my acquaintance and relationship with you has also completed 25 years. I believe the role you played in 2001, how a visionary leader thinks, where he starts from and how far he can take relationships – India and Russia’s relationship is a brilliant example of this.”
Regarding the Russia-Ukraine war, PM Modi stated, “After the Ukraine crisis, we have been in continuous discussion. You have also kept us informed about all developments from time to time as a true friend. Trust is a great strength. I have discussed this subject with you many times and have also shared the world’s understanding. The world’s welfare lies only on the path of peace. We all must work together to find paths of peace.”
Revealing India’s position, PM Modi said, “Regarding the efforts that have been ongoing recently to seek peace, I am confident that the world will once again return towards the direction of peace. In recent days, in my conversations with leaders of the world community, I have always said that India is not neutral. India’s position is the same as the position of peace. We support every effort for peace and stand shoulder to shoulder with every peace initiative.”
He added, “The entire world has gone through many crises from COVID till now. We hope that very soon the world will get relief from concerns and world communities will get new hope on the path of progress in the right direction.”
PM Modi said, “I am fully confident that today we are going to discuss many subjects throughout the day. May the economic relations between India and Russia expand further, may we achieve new heights. We will take our meeting forward with such optimistic results.”
