Tesla Launches First Authorized Body Shop in India, Begins Model Y Test Drives in Pune

Pune, July 28: Electric vehicle (EV) company Tesla announced the opening of its first authorized body shop in Pune, Maharashtra, on Tuesday, expanding its after-sales network in India.

In conjunction with this launch, the company has also initiated test drives for the 2026 Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive and Model YL in the city.

This authorized body shop will provide services to Tesla customers in Maharashtra. Clients can expect original Tesla parts, trained technicians, and repairs and maintenance services compliant with Tesla’s standards following accidents.

According to the company, the new facility will offer professional post-accident repairs and bodywork, software-based diagnostics, genuine Tesla spare parts, and approved repair processes. The aim is to maintain vehicle safety and performance while reducing the time required for repairs.

To strengthen its reach to customers, Tesla has started test drives for the 2026 Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive and Model YL in Pune and surrounding areas. Interested customers can book test drives through the company’s official website or customer support.

The starting price for the 2026 Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive is ₹5.089 million, offering a WLTP-certified range of up to 500 kilometers on a single charge. This SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds and provides up to 2,138 liters of storage space. Deliveries are set to begin in July 2026.

Tesla has also introduced the Model YL, a three-row, six-seat all-wheel-drive SUV designed specifically for larger families.

With a starting price of ₹6.199 million, this SUV offers a WLTP-certified range of up to 681 kilometers. It can reach 0 to 100 km/h in just 5 seconds and provides up to 2,539 liters of cargo space.

The company stated that the launch of the authorized body shop and the expansion of test drive facilities reflects its commitment to enhancing the ownership experience for customers in India.

Tesla also noted that electric vehicles are rapidly gaining traction in Pune, and the city’s robust industrial ecosystem makes it a significant market for expanding sales, service, and customer support.
