New Delhi, September 15 (Daily Kiran) : The Pharmaceuticals Department, under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, observed ‘Cleanliness Fortnight’ from September 1 to 15, 2026. This initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Clean India, Healthy India.” Department officials and staff, along with those from NIPER and public sector undertakings (PSUs), actively participated in various activities.
The fortnight began with Secretary Manoj Joshi administering a cleanliness oath to all department officials and employees on September 1. Throughout the two weeks, numerous awareness programs and cleanliness drives were conducted. Officials took the lead in organizing special clean-up activities at their workplaces and office premises.
Under the guidance of Joint Secretary Aman Sharma, senior officials and staff engaged in community service at the Janpath Building market in New Delhi, raising awareness about cleanliness among the public. The department also conducted a thorough review of outdated furniture, fixtures, and electronic equipment in offices, ensuring proper disposal and management. Additionally, pest control measures were implemented to maintain a clean and healthy work environment.
All seven National Institutes of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) celebrated the ‘Cleanliness Fortnight’ with enthusiasm. Clean-up drives involved faculty members, students, and staff working together to tidy their campuses. Many institutions also planted trees to enhance greenery alongside cleanliness efforts. Various cleanliness activities were carried out at public sector undertakings, with active participation from employees.
The Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Bureau of India (PMBI) also marked the ‘Cleanliness Fortnight’ in its office premises, extending the campaign to Jan Aushadhi centers across the country. This initiative emphasized the importance of a clean environment for public health and well-being.
The fortnight served as a platform for officials, employees, students, and faculty to collaborate on cleanliness efforts. The department reiterated the spirit of “Clean India, Healthy India,” emphasizing the necessity of continuous participation and responsible behavior to create clean workplaces and communities.
