Mumbai, June 7: Actress Kishori Shahane has shared her views on the long-standing issue of payment delays in the television industry. The star of “Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Mein” highlighted that sometimes payments are delayed, leading to financial difficulties for artists.
However, she also noted that there are production houses that maintain a proper payment schedule, making things easier for everyone involved.
In a special interview, Shahane was asked, “Payment delays in television are a significant problem that is often discussed. What are your thoughts on this?”
Discussing the challenges faced by those working in the television industry due to payment delays, the seasoned actress stated, “It can feel like a difficult situation and an endless cycle of issues. The time for payments, which should be shorter, sometimes stretches out considerably. This obviously creates difficulties. However, there are production houses that do pay on time. Once the payment process runs smoothly, things become easier.”
Shahane also shared that throughout her long career as an actor, she has received payments in various forms, including daily, monthly, and longer payment cycles.
Emphasizing the importance of budgeting and financial planning, she said, “Over the years, I have worked under different payment structures, including daily, monthly, and long-term cycles. This requires careful financial planning. I believe many professionals across various industries face similar challenges today, making budgeting and planning essential.”
During the conversation, she also discussed the long hours worked in the television industry.
Shahane remarked that actors often have to work extra hours to deliver daily content. “Television has always demanded hard work. Initially, shows were broadcast once a week, then five days a week, and now many shows are aired daily. Clearly, the workload increases. If you want to be part of this industry, you must accept that commitment.”
