Gurugram, April 25: Former Chief of Army Staff of India, Manoj Mukund Naravane, has made significant remarks regarding Pakistan’s strategies and behavior. He stated that Pakistan consistently attempts to capitalize on global tensions and conflicts, yet the long-term effects have been predominantly negative for the country.
Naravane emphasized that this is not a new trend for Pakistan. He cited examples from history, noting that when the “Global War on Terror” began, Pakistan sought to involve itself and aligned with the United States. Similarly, during the Soviet intervention in Afghanistan, Pakistan presented itself as a frontline state, standing alongside the U.S.
He clarified that Pakistan has always aimed to find opportunities in international conflicts to further its own interests. However, he pointed out that a closer examination of the long-term impacts reveals that Pakistan often faces adverse outcomes.
Referring to the current global situation, Naravane remarked that even amidst rising tensions between countries like the U.S. and Iran, Pakistan appears to be following its old patterns.
He also mentioned Operation Sindoor, highlighting a significant shift in strategy. This time, the operation targeted not only terrorist hideouts but also the leadership headquarters. This approach differed from previous operations, leading the Defense Minister to assert that they would “strike from within.” Naravane believes this sends a strong message to Pakistan that any aggressive actions will come at a substantial cost.
