New Delhi has firmly rejected Pakistan‘s recent accusations against India related to the attacks in Balochistan. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) criticised Islamabad’s claims as baseless and a diversion from Pakistan’s internal issues.
Responding to Pakistan’s allegations made on Sunday, the MEA advised Pakistan to stop making unfounded claims and focus instead on addressing the long-standing demands of the people in the region.
The MEA stated: “We completely dismiss Pakistan’s baseless allegations, which are their usual tactic to divert attention from their own internal failures. Instead of making false accusations after every violent incident, Pakistan should focus on fulfilling the long-standing demands of the local population. Their record of repression, cruelty, and human rights violations is well known.”
The attacks in Balochistan were reported on Saturday. Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi alleged India’s involvement in these incidents.
Since the Pakistani government ended the ceasefire with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in November 2022, there has been a surge in terrorist activities, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, with a significant rise in attacks.
The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for multiple attacks in Balochistan, stating that over 80 individuals, including members of the Pakistani army, police, intelligence agencies, and counter-terrorism units, were killed. The group described the operation as ‘Operation Hero Phase 2.’
BLA spokesperson Jiyand Baloch said the attacks lasted for about ten hours across several districts of Balochistan. The targets included what the group referred to as key security, military, and administrative locations.
The BLA claimed its fighters carried out assaults in Quetta, Nushki, Mastung, Dalbandin, Kalat, and other cities.
According to reports from The Balochistan Post, these areas are considered vital military and administrative hubs by the Pakistani government. During the operation, at least 84 Pakistani security personnel were reportedly killed, with many others injured.
The group also claimed that 18 security personnel were taken hostage during the attacks.
Furthermore, the BLA said more than 30 government properties, including offices, banks, and jails, were either seized or destroyed. As part of the coordinated attacks, over 20 vehicles were set on fire.
The BLA added that its fighters temporarily halted the activities of Pakistani security forces in several areas and claimed control over some zones during the operation.
Balochistan continues to suffer under persistent oppression by Pakistani authorities, who allegedly support death squads responsible for enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and illegal detentions of the Baloch people.
