New Delhi: More than 90 percent of Indian professionals plan to use artificial intelligence (AI) for job hunting by 2026, according to a report released by professional networking platform LinkedIn.
The report highlights that AI has evolved beyond merely simplifying tasks; it is also boosting the confidence of job seekers. About 66 percent of respondents believe that AI increases their confidence during interviews.
Due to the growing use of AI in hiring processes, rapidly changing skill demands, and tough competition, 84 percent of professionals feel unprepared for new job searches. Despite this, 72 percent intend to actively look for new employment opportunities in 2026.
While 87 percent of professionals are comfortable using AI at work, many remain uncertain about how AI is applied in recruitment. Approximately 77 percent noted that the hiring process involves multiple stages, and 66 percent feel the process has become less personal than before.
Neerajita Banerjee, LinkedIn India News career expert and senior managing editor, stated that AI has become an integral part of India’s job market. She explained that proper use of AI helps individuals understand how their skills align with job opportunities and supports better preparation.
LinkedIn data reveals that since 2022, applications per job in India have more than doubled, intensifying competition. Additionally, 74 percent of hiring companies report increasing difficulty in finding the right talent.
The report also shows that nearly 32 percent of Generation Z professionals are considering new roles, with an equal percentage exploring jobs outside their current fields.
According to LinkedIn’s ‘India Jobs on the Rise’ report, roles such as prompt engineer, AI engineer, and software engineer are among the fastest-growing jobs this year. There is also strong demand in sales, brand strategy, cybersecurity, and advisory services.
