Over 69 Lakh Farmers Benefit from PM-KISAN Scheme in Gujarat

Gandhinagar, February 16: The Governor of Gujarat, Acharya Devvrat, announced on Monday that over 69 lakh farmer families have received more than ₹22,000 crores directly into their accounts under the Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme.

While addressing the eighth session of the 15th Gujarat Assembly, the Governor emphasized the state government’s commitment to inclusive development under the vision of ‘Developed Gujarat, Developed India.’

Governor Devvrat stated that the state has provided timely financial assistance to farmers affected by unseasonal rains, announcing a relief package of ₹9,610 crores this year, benefiting over 33 lakh farmers. Promoting natural farming remains a top priority, with the establishment of the Gujarat Natural Agriculture Development Board and the world’s first natural agriculture university in the state.

He noted that over 19 lakh farmers have received training, and more than 8 lakh have adopted natural farming practices.

Additionally, the state has set up 7,100 model farms, with Dang district declared completely chemical-free. Farmers are being guided and incentivized to adopt chemical-free methods.

The Governor also highlighted Gujarat’s achievements in horticulture, mentioning the global recognition of products like Gir Kesar mango, Valsad Hafus, Kachhi Kharek, and Amalsadi Chikoo.

He remarked that direct financial assistance schemes like PM-KISAN provide timely support to farmers, strengthening agriculture and improving livelihoods.

On governance, the Governor pointed to technology-based initiatives that ensure transparency and accountability.

He also referenced the ‘Somnath Swabhimaan Mahotsav‘ held to commemorate the 1,000th anniversary of the attack on the Somnath temple.
