
Ulundurpet, October 5 (Daily Kiran) : A serious bus accident occurred early Monday morning near Ulundurpet, Tamil Nadu, injuring more than 20 passengers. One young woman was trapped under the vehicle for three hours before rescue teams managed to free her.
The incident took place on the GST Road near Pathur. Initial reports indicate that a private bus was traveling from Chennai to Madurai, carrying over 40 passengers. The driver, Balamurugan, aged 34, from Tiruchirappalli, lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn.
As the bus flipped, chaos ensued, prompting locals and passersby to rush to the scene to assist the trapped passengers. Emergency services from the Thirunavalur police station arrived promptly, rescuing the injured and transporting them to the Ulundurpet government hospital.
Rescue efforts focused on the young woman trapped inside the overturned bus. Fire and rescue personnel from Ulundurpet and Thirunavalur worked tirelessly for over three hours to cut through the metal bars and successfully extricate her. She has been identified as Aishwarya and was also taken to the hospital for treatment.
The accident severely disrupted traffic on the Chennai-Tiruchirappalli National Highway for nearly two hours. Police used a crane to remove the overturned bus and restore normal traffic flow. Authorities confirmed that a case has been registered, and an investigation is underway.
