Mumbai, June 4: The political atmosphere in Maharashtra is heating up as the Legislative Council elections approach on June 18. Shiv Sena leader Manisha Kayande has claimed that the opposition is facing challenges due to a lack of issues and candidates, leading to their current state of distress.
In a conversation, Kayande stated, “The opposition does not even have a decent candidate. They are struggling to choose one among many difficulties. We are confident of winning all 17 seats. Our voter base is very strong. In municipal councils and corporations, most voters are aligned with the ‘Mahayuti’ coalition. Therefore, we are sure of our victory.”
She emphasized that there is effective coordination among all coalition partners, and they are contesting the elections with full strength. Kayande believes that Mahayuti candidates will secure a significant majority in all 17 seats during the elections on June 18.
Regarding NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar, Kayande remarked, “They can file complaints with the Election Commission, as they seem to spend most of their time in police stations these days. If they have evidence, they should present it at the police station.”
Kayande also noted, “Nowadays, no one takes Sanjay Raut’s accusations seriously. People used to listen to him, but now they prefer to move on without paying attention. These statements remain largely confined to the media. Currently, the condition of Uddhav Thackeray’s party is such that they cannot even guarantee that their own members will stay loyal.”
It is noteworthy that Mahayuti announced the names of 17 candidates for the upcoming Legislative Council elections on Wednesday. This list includes candidates from BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP. Voting is scheduled for June 18, with the last date for withdrawing nominations set for June 4.
