Ongoing Chaos in Rajya Sabha Disrupts Question Hour Again

New Delhi, August 4: The proceedings of the Rajya Sabha faced significant disruptions once again on Tuesday, as the Question Hour was marred by chaos. Shortly after the session commenced at 11 AM, uproar erupted in the house, leading to the suspension of proceedings until noon. However, even when the session resumed at noon, the deadlock persisted.

At 12 PM, the Question Hour began, and some members posed their questions while ministers attempted to respond amid the turmoil. Unfortunately, the uproar escalated to such an extent that the Question Hour could not be completed, resulting in the house being adjourned until 2 PM.

As soon as the session resumed at noon, opposition members launched a vigorous protest, rising from their seats to chant slogans. Despite the Chairperson, C.P. Radhakrishnan, urging them to return to their seats, the protesting members continued to voice their demands. Consequently, the Chairperson decided to suspend the proceedings until 2 PM.

Earlier, the Zero Hour proceedings were similarly disrupted at 11 AM, allowing only a few members to speak. Following this, intense shouting and chaos ensued, prompting the suspension of the session until noon. However, the situation remained unchanged at noon, leading to another adjournment.

It is noteworthy that during the ongoing Monsoon Session, both houses of Parliament, including the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, have experienced similar disruptions. On Tuesday, the Lok Sabha also had to be adjourned until 2 PM due to the uproar.

Shortly after the Rajya Sabha session began, Leader of the Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge stood up to make a statement. Following his remarks, the noise between the ruling and opposition parties escalated, resulting in the adjournment of the Rajya Sabha proceedings. The same situation occurred on Monday, with opposition members gathering near the Chairperson’s seat, insisting on a discussion under Rule 267. However, the Chairperson had already rejected this request.

On Monday, the Chairperson informed that notices given under Rule 267 were not accepted. Many MPs were seen protesting with posters in hand, which drew the Chairperson’s ire, stating it was a violation of rules. Nevertheless, the protests continued.
