Omar Abdullah Promises Strong Political Message Post-Eid Celebration

Srinagar, May 6: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah announced on Wednesday that he will deliver a significant political message following the Eid celebration, expressing his intention to make a strong impact akin to a thunderstorm.

While addressing an event in the Tangmarg area of Baramulla district, Abdullah stated that he is currently exercising restraint, as the occasion is not suitable for a political speech. He emphasized that after Eid, he will convey a firm political message. He mentioned that he is holding back for now, but when he speaks, it will be with the force of a thunderstorm.

Eid is set to be celebrated on May 28, and sources indicate that Abdullah plans to organize a large public gathering after the festivities.

Focusing on the youth, the Chief Minister highlighted that students are central to the future of Jammu and Kashmir. He assured that the government is working to enhance education, employment, and economic opportunities.

Abdullah pointed out the lack of sufficient private universities in the region, which forces families to send their children outside Jammu and Kashmir, incurring significant financial burdens. He revealed that the government has passed a ‘Private University Bill’ to address this issue, and rules for its implementation are being formulated. He expressed hope that private universities will be established across the region, with Tangmarg providing favorable conditions for such initiatives.

He acknowledged that merely providing government jobs will not resolve the unemployment issue. However, he set a target of creating 20,000 to 25,000 government jobs this year. During his speech, he also emphasized self-employment initiatives like ‘Mission Youth,’ aimed at improving loan availability for young entrepreneurs, including those in tourism and small businesses.

Additionally, he mentioned that skill development programs are being expanded to align training with market needs. The Chief Minister stated that the overarching goal is to build a self-reliant Jammu and Kashmir with a robust local economic foundation, generating employment opportunities within the region and reducing long-term dependence on the central government.

Abdullah dismissed rumors of any internal disagreements within the ruling National Conference party, asserting that no one is leaving the party.
