Jammu, August 29: A suspicious Pakistani drone was spotted in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, near the Line of Control (LoC), prompting security agencies to heighten their alertness.
Officials reported that the drone was seen on Friday evening in the Behroti village of the Mendhar sector. It reportedly moved towards Manglanar-Dabrote before returning to Pakistan.
In response, soldiers stationed along the LoC have intensified surveillance and launched a search operation early Saturday to determine if the drone dropped or carried any suspicious materials. The search operation is ongoing, with security forces maintaining a high alert along the border.
Meanwhile, following reports of suspicious activities, police, army, and paramilitary forces are conducting extensive search operations in the vast forest areas of Udhampur, Kathua, and Rajouri.
According to officials, the joint search operation began on Friday evening in the Khuban, Nagan, Khatrial, Godu Falal, Pader, Chor Motu, Kia, Kheba, Bhed, Marti, Jofr, and surrounding areas of the Udhampur-Kathua forest region and is still in progress.
In Rajouri, another search operation was initiated after villagers reported the activities of two suspicious armed individuals, suspected to be terrorists, in the areas of Gabas, Mithiyani, Mogla, and Narla.
The dense forest regions of Rajouri, Poonch, Kathua, Ramban, Udhampur, Doda, Kishtwar, and Reasi are under the watchful eye of security forces, as there have been reports of terrorists moving from one area to another.
Although no encounters (gunfire) have occurred during the current search operation, security forces are working to prevent hidden terrorists from escaping, ensuring they cannot establish a foothold for potential attacks against civilians and security personnel.
