Bhopal, August 29: The Congress party has raised concerns about the performance of school education in Madhya Pradesh. They claim that no district in the state has crossed the 60 percent mark in the Central Education Ministry’s ‘Performance Grading Index for Districts’ for 2025-26.
State Congress President Jitu Patwari wrote a letter to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Saturday, stating that the best-performing district received only 333 out of 600 points, translating to a score of 55.5 percent.
Patwari emphasized, “This report should be viewed as a serious report card on your government’s education system. Not a single district in Madhya Pradesh has surpassed the 60 percent threshold.”
The ‘Performance Grading Index for Districts’ evaluated the school education system across 784 districts in the country based on 70 criteria, including learning outcomes, infrastructure, school safety, child protection, digital learning, and governance. Patwari highlighted the shortcomings in the state’s education system by referencing the performance of various districts.
He noted that Bhopal scored approximately 47 percent in learning outcomes and 37 percent in school safety, while Indore achieved around 41 percent in school facilities and 47 percent in learning outcomes.
Patwari pointed out that many districts exhibited particularly weak levels of digital learning. Sagar scored about 24 percent, Badwani 16 percent, Agar-Malwa 28 percent, and Dhar 20 percent in this area.
He clarified, “These figures are not from any Congress survey. They are based on the evaluation system of the Central Education Ministry.”
Patwari called for a district-wise public review of the PGI-D results and demanded time-bound plans to improve learning outcomes. He also requested audits of digital resources, internet connectivity, smart classrooms, and teacher training in districts where digital learning scores are below 30 percent.
He insisted on conducting security audits in districts that performed poorly in school safety and called for quarterly reviews of learning outcomes at the chief ministerial level.
In his letter, he stated, “The future of children in Madhya Pradesh is not a topic for political propaganda. You are in charge of the government, so you must provide answers.”
