Ballia, August 16: Om Prakash Rajbhar, a minister in the Yogi government, has responded sharply to statements made by Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party. Rajbhar defended the government’s performance in health, education, expressways, women’s reservation, and welfare schemes, accusing the opposition of misleading the public.
Akhilesh Yadav had questioned the health system, stating that the current government itself needs treatment. In response, Rajbhar remarked that it is Yadav who requires medical attention. He claimed that medical colleges have been established in all 75 districts of the state. Referring to Yadav’s tenure, Rajbhar noted that there were alleged instances of corruption in government hospitals, whereas improvements have been made under the current administration. He also suggested that Yadav should visit government hospitals to see the changes.
On the education front, Rajbhar highlighted that the BJP government has opened Atal Residential Schools for children from laborer and working-class families who previously lacked access to quality education. He mentioned that these schools are operational in all divisions and plans are underway to extend them to every block.
Akhilesh Yadav had accused the government of corruption regarding the damage to the Kanpur-Lucknow Expressway during the first rain. He also raised questions about the project’s cost. Rajbhar responded that mistakes can occur in hurriedly completed work and emphasized that proper time must be given for soil settling in road construction. He assured that repairs would be made if the road is damaged, adding that previous governments failed to complete many projects, while the current government is both initiating and inaugurating projects.
In response to Yadav’s statement about implementing the Women’s Reservation Bill in 2027, Rajbhar countered that when the bill was presented in Parliament, opposition parties, including Congress, Samajwadi Party, TMC, and Shiv Sena, had opposed it. He accused the opposition of making statements to cover their shortcomings, asserting that the public is well aware of the truth.
Rajbhar also mocked Yadav’s claim of transferring 40,000 rupees to women’s accounts under the Samajwadi Pension Scheme, stating that neither will the Samajwadi Party form a government nor will the money reach the women’s accounts.
Regarding Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s assertion that Congress and the Samajwadi Party are responsible for the 1947 massacre, Rajbhar agreed, noting that if Narendra Modi had been Prime Minister at that time, the situation would have been different. He referenced the Modi government’s military actions, stating that after attacks from Pakistan, the Prime Minister authorized the military to target terrorist hideouts.
On the notice issued to Rahul Gandhi by the Privileges Committee, Rajbhar supported the action, accusing Gandhi of lying and questioning the Election Commission. He pointed out that Gandhi, who became an MP through the Constitution and the Election Commission, is now questioning the very system that enabled his position. Rajbhar accused the opposition of undermining national institutions.
In response to Shivpal Yadav’s statement about making Azam Khan the Home Minister if the Samajwadi Party returns to power, Rajbhar questioned why Khan was not appointed during the SP’s previous tenure. He alleged that the SP government did not provide adequate jobs or representation for Muslims in the police or PAC. Rajbhar challenged Shivpal Yadav to declare that a Muslim would be made Chief Minister if they win the next election.
