Gurugram, August 16: Surendra Jain, Joint General Secretary of the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), has accused Congress leaders of disrespecting ‘Vande Mataram‘ and the Constitution. He criticized the party for engaging in vote bank politics and appeasement, asserting that the public will not tolerate such actions.
During an event at the Congress office, Jain pointed out the behavior of senior Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, and Rahul Gandhi during the rendition of ‘Vande Mataram.’ He claimed that their inability to stand for even three minutes was a source of national embarrassment. Jain emphasized that ‘Vande Mataram’ is not merely a song; it symbolizes the emotions tied to the freedom struggle and the sacrifices made by countless martyrs and freedom fighters. Disrespecting it, he argued, is an affront to those heroes.
Jain further accused Congress of prioritizing vote bank politics, stating that the party is willing to go to any lengths for appeasement. He recalled that opposition to ‘Vande Mataram’ has historically been linked to the circumstances surrounding the partition of India, and the consequences of Congress yielding to such opposition are well-known. He warned that Congress must recognize the potential repercussions of opposing ‘Vande Mataram’ again, suggesting that the party is attempting to create conditions that could lead to further division in the country.
He concluded by asserting that the public will not accept or forgive Congress for its stance, warning that the party may face severe consequences that could hinder its ability to recover politically.
