New Delhi, August 16: During the Independence Day celebrations, P. Kumaran, India’s High Commissioner to the UK, addressed the audience, highlighting India’s freedom and enduring national spirit.
Kumaran stated that every Independence Day is not just a time for celebration but also an opportunity to reflect on the goals we have set. This year’s Independence Day marks a significant milestone on the path to creating a developed India by 2047.
In an interview, Kumaran expressed confidence that India does not shy away from setting ambitious goals, and with the current growth rate, these can be achieved. He praised the Indian community residing in the UK, noting that the diaspora serves as a bridge between the two nations.
“Every Independence Day is a milestone as it not only gives us a chance to celebrate but also to think about what lies ahead and what goals we have set, along with the efforts needed to achieve them,” he said.
He further emphasized that this year’s Independence Day is crucial in the journey towards a developed India by 2047. Therefore, it is essential for us to clearly identify our set goals and move forward in a phased manner to achieve them.
Kumaran acknowledged the enormity of this target, stating, “There is no doubt it is a significant target, but today, India does not hesitate to set large goals. We set ambitious targets and work hard to achieve them. These are challenging goals, without a doubt, but we are confident as we are currently recording unprecedented growth rates.”
The High Commissioner remarked, “The Indian community here is remarkable. Their achievements are numerous. It is inspiring to see the kind of energy that brings both countries together.”
