New Delhi, August 21: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has addressed concerns regarding the answer key challenge system. Recently, social media users expressed worries about the high fees associated with challenging answers. In response, the NTA emphasized that this system is designed to ensure fairness for every candidate.
The agency explained the entire process through a post on ‘X’, stating that if even one student raises a valid objection, all candidates benefit from it.
According to the NTA, if a candidate challenges a question and the subject expert deems the objection valid, the revised answer key applies to all students who participated in that exam.
The NTA stated, “One challenge benefits everyone. If any candidate challenges a question and the expert accepts it, the modified answer key will apply to all candidates who took the exam.”
Regarding the fee structure, the NTA clarified that a fee of ₹200 is required to challenge each question. If the challenge is found to be valid, the fee will be refunded. The purpose of this fee is not to generate revenue but to prevent frivolous objections.
The agency urged students to formally raise objections if they identify any genuine errors in the answer key. The NTA believes that a valid challenge can improve the results for millions of students.
In its post, the NTA mentioned that if a candidate identifies a real mistake and raises it, not only will the fee be refunded, but the correct objection from one candidate will also rectify the records for millions of others.
The NTA’s answer key challenge process is conducted online, allowing candidates from exams like JEE Main, NEET, and UGC NET to raise objections against the provisional answer keys provided.
This statement from the NTA comes at a time when it faces scrutiny over exam-related controversies. Recently, the agency has been criticized regarding issues related to the NEET-UG exam and UGC NET.
