
New Delhi, August 6: In an exciting encounter of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2026, the North Delhi Strikers showcased an impressive performance, defeating the East Delhi Riders by six wickets. The match highlighted a stellar innings from North Delhi’s captain, Sarthak Ranjan, overshadowing a commendable half-century by Sujal Singh.
Chasing a target of 172 runs set by East Delhi, North Delhi achieved their goal in just 16 overs, losing four wickets in the process. The innings did not start well for North Delhi, as Vaibhav Kandpal was dismissed for just 5 runs. Following him, Arnav Bagga also struggled, scoring only 9 runs before being caught by Simarjeet Singh. At 39 runs, North Delhi found themselves with two wickets down.
However, captain Sarthak and Yash Bhatia stabilized the innings, forming a remarkable partnership for the third wicket. They added 113 runs in just 61 balls. Sarthak fell just short of a century, scoring 95 runs off 50 balls at a striking rate of 190. His innings included 7 fours and 8 sixes. Yash remained unbeaten, contributing 53 runs off 34 balls to secure the victory for his team.
Earlier, the East Delhi Riders batted first, posting a total of 171 runs after losing six wickets in their 20 overs. The start was rocky for East Delhi, with Arpit Rana scoring 18 runs and Dhruv Kaushik managing only 14. Captain Mayank Rawat also struggled, scoring just 16 runs before being dismissed by Mayank Dagar. Kavya Gupta and Suryansh Raina added only 2 and 16 runs, respectively.
Sujal Singh, batting at number three, anchored the innings for East Delhi, scoring an unbeaten 82 runs off 50 balls with a strike rate of 164. His innings featured 6 fours and 4 sixes. On the bowling front, Mayank Dagar was the standout for North Delhi, taking 2 wickets for just 16 runs.
