Noida, September 19 (Daily Kiran) : Noida police have successfully dismantled an interstate gang involved in motorcycle theft and mobile phone snatching. Four suspects were apprehended, and two minors were taken into custody for their involvement. Authorities recovered 22 stolen two-wheelers, 31 mobile phones, ₹2,500 in cash, and three illegal knives from the gang.
According to police reports, the gang operated in various areas of Delhi-NCR, scouting locations before committing their crimes. The operation, which took place on September 18, was based on manual intelligence and electronic surveillance. The arrested individuals include Vicky Yadav alias Mota, Karan Nagar, Ravindra, and Vishva Mahato alias Raja, all captured in different locations within the Sector-24 and Khoda regions.
During questioning, the suspects revealed that they would survey deserted areas in the Delhi-NCR region to steal parked motorcycles and scooters. These stolen vehicles were then used in mobile phone snatching incidents. To evade detection, they frequently changed the motorcycles and scooters they used. The gang targeted pedestrians, snatching their mobile phones as they walked along the streets. The stolen vehicles were hidden in forests, bushes, and other secluded spots to avoid police scrutiny.
Investigators also discovered that some of the stolen mobile phones were sold at low prices to passersby, while others were transported to Bihar through Vishva Mahato, where they were sold for higher prices. The proceeds from these sales were shared among the gang members to fund their lifestyles.
The arrested suspects include 19-year-old Vicky Yadav alias Mota from Ghadohli Dairy Farm, Delhi; 19-year-old Karan Nagar from Mayur Vihar Phase-3, Delhi; 21-year-old Ravindra from Mayur Vihar Phase-3, Delhi; and 26-year-old Vishva Mahato alias Raja from Samastipur, Bihar, currently residing in Khoda Colony, Ghaziabad.
Police also seized one illegal knife from each of the three main suspects. Authorities revealed that the gang has multiple cases registered against them in various police stations across Gautam Buddh Nagar and Delhi, including Sarita Vihar and New Ashok Nagar. The operation resulted in the recovery of 22 stolen two-wheelers, 31 snatched mobile phones, ₹2,500 in cash from mobile sales, and three illegal knives.
The police are now working to gather information regarding other cases related to the recovered vehicles and mobile phones, as well as investigating potential additional members of the gang and their broader network of theft and snatching activities.
