Kolkata, September 20 (Daily Kiran) : Riju Datta, the national spokesperson for the Democratic Trinamool Congress, has publicly criticized the internal conflicts within the Trinamool Congress (TMC). He accused party leader Mamata Banerjee and MP Abhishek Banerjee of orchestrating a significant betrayal against Congress in West Bengal.
Datta’s remarks come amid rising tensions within the TMC, particularly targeting Mamata for systematically dismantling Congress’s presence in the state since she became Chief Minister in 2011. He stated, “If anyone has committed the biggest betrayal against Congress in history, it is Mamata Banerjee. She initially contested elections with Rajiv Gandhi’s blessings and then actively worked to break Congress to form the TMC.”
He further alleged that Mamata has sent Congress leaders to prison or forced them to join the TMC. Datta also referenced Sumit Roy, claiming he represents the corruption that has plagued Bengal over the past 15 years. He noted that recent CID reports revealed Roy was operating under Abhishek Banerjee’s instructions.
Datta raised questions about the TMC’s actions in response to the Election Commission‘s decisions. He pointed out that Kalyan Banerjee, Mamata’s legal advisor, was part of the delegation that presented their case to the Election Commission twice. After the Commission froze TMC’s election symbol, Mamata approached the Supreme Court, leaving Datta to wonder what she aims to prove.
Additionally, he commented on Naushad Siddiqui, the sole legislator from the Indian Secular Front (ISF), expressing disappointment in his capabilities and questioning the legitimacy of ISF as a recognized party.
