Noah Kenney Shines as Huskies Claim 7-2 Victory Over Northwestern

Seattle, March 28: In a commanding performance, Noah Kenney led the Washington Huskies to a 7-2 victory against the Northwestern Wildcats in their series opener on Friday night.

Kenney delivered a career-best performance, pitching 7 innings and allowing just one run, which came from a leadoff home run by third baseman Owen McElfatrick. He limited the Wildcats to only four baserunners, comprising 3 hits and a walk, while achieving a personal record of 9 strikeouts. This win improved his season record to 2-3. Carson Boesel took over in relief, allowing one run on 4 hits with 2 strikeouts over the final 2 innings.

The Huskies’ offense was equally impressive, racking up 11 hits and providing Kenney with ample support. They scored 3 runs in the first inning, with first baseman Daniel Porras contributing a run-scoring single. Porras had a standout game, going 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored.

Third baseman Blake Wilson also made his mark, hitting a two-run triple during a 3-run third inning that helped extend the Huskies’ lead. Shortstop Sam DeCarlo and catcher Colton Bower each added two hits, with DeCarlo contributing an RBI and a run, while Bower reached base on a walk and scored twice.

Garrett Shearer took the loss for the Wildcats, struggling to get through the second inning. He pitched 1 1/3 innings, giving up 3 runs on 3 hits, along with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts, dropping his record to 0-2 for the season.

With this victory, the Huskies improved their season record to 11-14 and are now 5-5 in Big Ten play. The teams will face off again on Saturday evening at 7:00 p.m. PT for the second game of their three-game series.
